Psychological Assessments

with Dr. Kristin Marvin, Clinical Psychologist

 

Dr. Marvin provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults across South East Queensland. Services are focused exclusively on assessment and reporting, allowing for faster availability, clear recommendations, and timely report delivery. Dr. Marvin travels to your home or suitable meeting space near your home. 

Types of Assessments Offered

 

NDIS and ECEI Access

Assessments for individuals seeking initial access to the NDIS or Early Childhood Early Intervention supports, including children aged 3–9, adolescents, and adults.

NDIS Participants

Functional Capacity Assessments for plan reviews, change of circumstances, and diagnostic clarification. Services are available for self-managed and plan-managed participants. Agency-managed plans are not accepted.

School Use

Diagnostic and assessment reports to support learning adjustments, school-based supports, funding applications, and Individual Learning Plans.

Personal Use

Assessments for personal understanding, formal diagnosis, and planning future treatment or support needs.

Conditions Assessed and Diagnosed

Dr. Marvin can provide formal diagnosis and written reports for the following conditions:

 

Autism Spectrum Disorder
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Anxiety Disorders
Depressive Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex PTSD
Intellectual Disability, including verbal and non-verbal presentations
Borderline Personality Disorder

 

Please note that Clinical Psychologists do not prescribe medication.

 

Wait Times and Availability

Assessment appointments are typically available within 7 to 14 business days.
Report turnaround time is approximately 3 to 5 business days following the assessment.
From referral to completed report, the overall timeframe is generally 1 to 3 weeks.

Dr. Marvin focuses exclusively on assessments rather than ongoing therapy, which allows for faster access and mobile service delivery.

The Assessment Process

Intake

You will be provided with an intake form to complete prior to the assessment. Telehealth assessments may be available depending on the referral and location.

Assessment Appointment

The assessment is conducted in person or via telehealth and usually takes between 1 and 3 hours. This includes a detailed clinical interview and structured assessment tools. Some questionnaires may be completed before the appointment.

Report Writing

Dr. Marvin scores and interprets all assessment data, reviews relevant documentation, and prepares a comprehensive written report. A draft is provided for your review prior to finalisation.

Final Report

Once approved, a signed PDF report is issued for use with the NDIS, schools, or personal planning.

Fees and Payment

Private fee rate is $250 per hour.
NDIS rate is $232.99 per hour.

Current professional fee guidelines suggest Clinical Psychologist fees are typically between $310 and $318 per hour.

Total time required usually ranges from 5 to 15 hours, depending on the complexity of the referral, history, and documentation involved.

Medicare rebates are not currently available.
Invoices are issued weekly.
Payment plans are available on request for up to 28 days to pay.

The Psychologist

Kristin is a Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years’ experience in mental health, including more than 15 years as a registered Clinical Psychologist in both the United States and Australia. Since returning to Australia in 2020, she has also worked extensively as a Specialist Support Coordinator under the NDIS, bringing significant expertise in NDIA assessments and complex mental health and disability presentations.

Kristin holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from the United States. Her career has spanned a diverse range of settings, including private practice, schools, prisons, universities, and corporate mental health services (EAP). She has also lectured at university level and delivered public presentations on a range of mental health topics.

She is particularly passionate about supporting individuals living with neurodivergent traits, chronic pain, physical, intellectual, and psychosocial disability, anxiety, depression, terminal illness, and the often-overlooked impact of caregiver fatigue.

Having grown up and trained in the United States, Kristin returned to Australia in 2020 and brings a strong international perspective and depth of clinical experience to her practice.

Outside of her professional work, Kristin enjoys running, hiking, teaching and attending dance fitness classes, gardening, road trips, world travel (51 countries and counting), cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

In 2022, Kristin completed her first book, The Reluctant Caregiver: How to Survive the Rollercoaster Called End-of-Life Care of a Family Member, written to support those caring for loved ones with terminal illness. The book is available on Amazon via the link below.
